BUZZ RICKSON'S BR80661 Type AN6552 "AMERICAN SPORTSWEAR CO." M-422A Successor Model Goatskin

It was released as a successor to the M-422A used by the Navy and US Marine Corps.

It is AN6552.

 

Like the M-422A, it uses goatskin and its appearance is almost identical to the M-422A.

The model name was changed due to shared use with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

 

The model name uses the initials of both the ARMY and NAVY.

For this reason, the inside of the collar of a G-1 jacket usually says "USN."

Although it is marked, this jacket is for common use by both armies.

It says "US."

The main change is that the M-422A used a nickel-finish zipper,

The zipper has been changed to a brass zipper with a black oxidation finish.

  

AN6552 (AN-J-3A) was adopted from 1944 to 1947.

Carefully selected thick goat skin is tanned with vegetable tannins,

For the final touch, the craftsman applies solid wax by hand.

After this process, the color of the base of the goatskin is visible in sunlight.

It has a deep color finish.
