40's Denim Jacket made from 14.5oz left-hand twill Zimbabwe cotton
This denim jacket is based on the details of the so-called "War Model" produced during World War II, a vintage item. It is made from Zimbabwe cotton, which allows you to enjoy unique vertical fading, and special attention has been paid to the details of each part.
While regular vintage denim used right-hand twill fabric, this is an original denim jacket made from left-hand twill Zimbabwe cotton, which is also a popular fabric from Flat Head.
~Flat Head's Commitment~
Zimbabwe cotton fabric with unique vertical fading
We use left-hand twill Zimbabwe cotton denim fabric that offers vertical fading with long, vertical color loss.
Zimbabwe cotton, a super-long staple cotton, is often used in relatively soft and smooth fabrics due to its easy familiarity. However, to give the denim fabric its firm texture, we weave it with the maximum possible number of weft threads.
As a result, the fabric offers long vertical fading and strong contrast in color loss.
From three needles to two needles
The original COWBOY JACKET had triple stitching to ensure high durability as workwear. During wartime material control, the details were changed to two needles.
This time, to reproduce the atmosphere of that era, two-needle chain stitching is also adopted.
We have also reproduced fine details based on the historical background.
Characteristic chest pocket
The chest pocket is finished with a distinctive rounded shape.
The pocket flap also has rounded corners.
We have reproduced the sewing specifications seen in war models as details intended to reduce sewing processes.
Rivets and pleats on the back
The waist part originally had a cinch back and a belt, but as a detail of our commitment, it is finished with only pleats and rivets without a cinch back.
The rivets used are original rivets with the Flat Head name.
Laurel leaf pattern donut buttons
We use donut buttons with a laurel leaf design, a distinctive detail that can be said to be a symbol of the war model.
The front, chest pockets, and cuffs, wherever buttons are used, feature donut buttons that evoke the feel of a war model.
Post-cut buttonholes that leave fabric tufts
The buttonholes are finished with a post-cut technique, where the edges are stitched first, and then a blade is inserted into the center.
The tufts from the cut fabric remain inside the stitching, acting as a cushion between the button and the stitching.
This prevents the stitching from wearing out and makes the buttonhole less likely to tear.
