The US Navy adopted denim parkas as a gas protection measure in the early 1940s.

It is easy to put on and take off as a pullover, giving it a loose silhouette overall.

The loop around the hooded neck is used to hang the gas mask filter container, and the straps on the left and right are used to secure the gas mask hose.

The front flap has a complex triple structure to prevent gas from entering, and the hood also has a cord that allows it to be sealed after the gas mask is put on.

The parka was worn with overall trousers, rubber gloves, and rubber overshoes .
