BUZZ RICKSON'S BR15693 / Type E-1 VEST "CIVILIAN MODEL" Type E-1 Civilian Model Military Vest
Type E-1 emergency vest, estimated to have been in use since 1950 .
Among the few military vests available, this one is just as attractive as the C-1 vest issued in the 1940s .
The E-1 vest originally had pockets on both sides for storing radios and batteries , and tape around the waist to secure them to the body , but these have been boldly modified.
The material used is originally nylon, but has been changed to cotton back satin, and the lining is made of smooth rayon cotton .
In addition, pockets have been added to the lining to improve functionality.
The zipper is a TALON zipper, reminiscent of the 1940s when cotton flight jackets were manufactured , giving the jacket an appearance of something that existed before the advent of the synthetic nylon E-1 vest .
