BUZZ RICKSON'S BR15768 AVIATION ASSOCIATES TANKERS CAMOUFLAGE OVER DYE. This tanker jacket features herringbone twill and is made from "frogskin" camouflage fabric, perfect for aviation pilots and field uniforms.
Popularly known as the Tanker's Jacket, it was worn by Army tank crews.
The jacket, which had no unnecessary decorations, provided moderate warmth and excellent mobility, and was so popular that it went beyond the scope of tank crews and was also favored by air force pilots .
During World War II, the Army and Marine Corps introduced a material called "frogskin" for field uniforms and equipment, and soldiers covered themselves in frogskin to protect their lives and camouflage themselves against the forest.
In the early 19th century, when uniforms were whitish, they were easily spotted by enemy forces, and because they would become soiled in the field , they decided to use fabric dyed khaki (earth color) .
This tanker jacket follows this same pattern, with frogskin herringbone twill dyed in earth tones.
The earth-colored frogskin, with its subtle pattern , is reminiscent of late autumn vegetation and even exudes a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere.
AVIATION ASSOCIATES
From the 1920s through the 1940s, a variety of military-specification flight suits were commercially available to the public.
Analysis of old photographs from the middle of the war reveals rare instances of pilots wearing these commercially available jackets, proving that they did indeed fly.
Normally, wearing a jacket other than that issued by the government was against the rules, but this is a prime example of how regulations were relaxed during wartime.
The differences between official-issued items and commercially available items are mainly in the design and use of materials, and many of the colors were consistent with those of official-issued items.
In particular, when it comes to the design of the jackets, many of them are based on official military supplies with some modifications, resulting in many attractive jackets that give off a very classic impression.
Aviation Associates are a collection of legendary jackets that were originally released for the civilian market by Buzz Rickson's, a military contractor at the time, and we hope you will experience this masterpiece that embodies the Buzz Rickson's spirit .
Please note that slight variations in dimensions may occur depending on the characteristics of the material and the finishing method. Also, the color of the product may differ slightly from the actual color depending on the settings and environment of your device.
