The 13th Bombardment Squadron was based at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea after the end of the Korean War.

While forward deployed, he was sent to Johnson Air Force Base, Japan in 1954.

The conversion to the Martin B-57 Canberra began.


On April 10, 1964, the unit deployed to Clark Air Base, Philippines.

During the Vietnam War, the unit flew twin-engine jet bombers called Canberras.

He took part in many operations.


He then deployed to Tan Son Nhat Air Base in South Vietnam.

By June 1964, it had flown a total of 119 combat missions.


During wartime, restrictions were placed on patch customization and jackets to be worn.

It was relatively gentle.


Pilots line the grounds of their bases in Japan, where they are on short vacation.

He took his jacket to patch shops and embroidery shops, creating a unique style that was unheard of in his native America.

The back features gorgeous embroidery unique to Japan.
