STRATEGIC AIR COMMAND (SAC) was established in 1946 with the primary mission of operating bombers for the U.S. Air Force.

Soon after its establishment, the unit introduced the B-47 Stratojet, a 6-engine, turbojet-powered bomber developed by Boeing.

The embroidery on the back is based on a photograph taken during a flight at Loring Air Force Base in Maine. Later, when the soldier was stationed in Japan, he commissioned a bowling shirt to be made at an embroidery shop using that photograph.

The material replicates the actual fabric from that era, made of 100% rayon with thick yarns in a plain weave.
