The Classic Henley Shirt is inspired by vintage, repaired Henley neck underwear from the 1920s to 1930s.

The buttons on the vintage item had been replaced, with mismatched colors, and we incorporated that as well by using three different colored buttons.

The "Henley" in Classic Henley Shirt does not refer to the personal name "Henry," but rather to "Henley" from the town of "Henley-on-Thames," located about 60km west of London.

It seems that the collarless, polo-shirt type short-sleeved T-shirt made of knit fabric, worn by rowers at the Royal Regatta boat race held there since 1839, came to be called a "Henley shirt" around the end of the 19th century.
