Founded in 1905, the Horween Leather Company has a long history spanning over 100 years and is a well-known American tannery famous for producing leathers such as Chromexcel and Shell Cordovan.
"Split Horween"
This special leather is crafted by intentionally roughing out Horween's flagship "Chromexcel" leather, giving it a distinctive texture.
While maintaining the same amount of oil soaked deep into the fibers, it offers a softness different from top-grain leather and an appealing, tactile feel.
It starts out with a matte, rugged appearance.
However, with daily use as a wallet – being touched, rubbed, and pressed – the nap naturally settles, and a beautiful luster and depth slowly emerge.
