This piece features auspicious patterns such as "yukiwa" (snow rings), which originate from melting snow and symbolize a bountiful harvest, and fans, framing the design. Oriental motifs such as carp, mounted warriors, and cranes are scattered throughout the shirt.

These designs, used on kimonos and other garments long before the aloha shirt was born, were very popular in Hawaii in the 1950s.

This shirt was created by Liberty House, a long-established department store in Hawaii that pioneered trends of the time with a product lineup that quickly embraced new styles.
