This work from the early 1950s depicts an eagle spreading its wings wide as it takes off from rocky outcrops in rough waves .
The splashes of waves and the dynamic movement of the fiercely flapping eagle, expressed using only black and off-white embroidery thread on the black acetate fabric , look almost like a sumi-e painting.
This modern and stylish piece is unified in monochrome, even down to the ribbing and piping.
The reversible side has a pink and silver body with a landscape pattern drawn in three colors of thread: white, yellow, and silver.
Behind the arched bridge, you can see a waterfall, and the white embroidery evokes the image of falling snow.
