The Year of the Dragon collection features reproductions of dragon embroidery selected from a number of vintage Sukajan jackets , in honor of the dragon, the zodiac sign for 2024 .

The surface features a detailed design known as "Dragon Head," depicting only the head of a dragon .

It is based on a recently discovered piece from the early 1950s, and this is the first time that Tailor Toyo has reproduced it.

The pale green dragon's face and vermilion flames are colors of embroidery thread unique to Japan at the time.

The vintage look has been reproduced down to the smallest details, including a navy blue body with the body and under the sleeves unified in navy blue, and white rope piping (usually twisted in two colors) .

The reversible side features a tiger roaring ferociously in a bamboo forest.

Bamboo and tiger have been considered a good combination since ancient times and have often been depicted as motifs on Sukajan jackets, but the composition of crossed bamboo as in this work is unique.

The red bamboo leaves stand out against the black body, making a striking statement, but if you look closely at the tiger embroidery, you'll see that red thread is used in parts of the outline of the front legs and the black stripes, emphasizing its power.

ACETATE SOUVENIR JACKET

This reversible type is the most standard among souvenir jackets, with acetate fabric on both sides.

In the post-war period, Sukajan jackets were made from acetate, a non-controlled material that has a luxurious feel similar to silk .

Since it has no padding, it can be worn in any season, and its unique drape is also an attractive feature.
